other techniques

during the session, other techniques may be employed to assist with your healing

Cupping is an ancient technique used in many cultures. It is a form of bodywork that rather than compressing tissue, raises it. This releases rigidity in muscles and connective tissue and provides space for increased blood, lymph, and energy circulation. It breaks up stagnation so toxins in the tissues can be released and eliminated naturally.

Cupping is particularly helpful for tight muscles and for respiratory problems. When applied during a common cold, it helps release phlegm and increase lymphatic circulation.

Moxa is a herb (artemisia vulgaris) that has been used for thousands of years to warm the skin, the acupuncture points, and the meridians. Moxa helps improve circulation and strengthen energy. The technique of direct moxa, where tiny pieces of the processed herb are burned on the skin over a layer of protective ointment, is a potent anti-inflammatory.

Infrared therapy is used to warm larger areas of the body. The body naturally produces far-infrared energy which aids healing. The application of far-infrared energy via the use of a heat lamp deeply penetrates the skin and nourishes the tissues
